We are hiring Owner Operators in the Charleston area for Independent Contractors.  Home Time: Mixture of local and regional runs.  Regional runs only have one overnight run a week.  

This job comes with a $2000 sign on bonus.

Owner Operators must be willing to do both local and home daily regional runs  and be willing to enter the port.

We have tons of freight in container drayage industry,  transloading, and domestic transportation industries

We can take Day Cabs for this job but see the weight requirements below.

  • Any year of truck as long as it passes inspection. We take both sleepers and double axle daycabs.  (*Port has limit on trucks, must be 1994 or newer to enter*)

Charleston Owner Operators is a mix of freight some local with a mostly regional. 60-65% is overweight which is over 45,000 lbs. From time to time we have a 30 mile run from Charleston that is 60,000 lbs. 

Day Cab local loads for CHS are 58k lbs; anyone coming on with a day cab in CHS need to know all the loads weigh that much.

General Pay Structure

UP to $4000 gross + FSC
a.    Paid 70% of the gross line haul
b.    Paid FSC off 100% of the gross (FSC changes weekly)
c.    We have a 2-week hold on settlements to start
d.    Paid 70% for most additional fees
e.    Example
i.    Line haul = $100
ii.    FSC = 25%
iii.    Calculation
1.    Line haul: 100*70% = $70
2.    FSC: 100*25% = $25
3.    Driver pay = $95

 Additional Driver Pay Items
a.    Chassis split – N/A
a.    Bobtail – 
b.    Waiting time after 2 hours = $70/hour
c.    Haz mat = $100
d.    Tanker =
e.    OVERWEIGHTS – $25 and an additional $25 for every state they go through

Expected Standard Deductions
1.    Approximately $200/week
i.    Liability Insurance (Cargo) = $94 – required
ii.    Occupational = $48 – required
iii.    Bobtail = $10
iv.    Physical Damage = (Total amount) X 6% = ________ / 52 Weeks = _________(example coverage: $20K = 20K*6= $1200/52 weeks= $23.08 a week)
2.    Security Deposit (refundable 45 days after contract cancellation)
i.    No fuel card – $50/ week until balance is $1500
ii.    OTR – $50/week until balance is $1900, then $25 until balance is $3500
iii.    Local – $50/week until balance is $1500, then $25 until balance is $2000
iv.    Lease Purchase (LP) – $50/week until balance is $3000, then $25 until balance is $4000
3.    ELD & camera
i.    $2.31/week
4.    Plates – if needed
i.    $40/week

1.    Comdata fuel card – Love’s discount
•    Love: $0.30 discount
•    Pilot/Flying J: $0.15 discount.
•    TA/Petro: Cost plus $0.03
2.    Free truck parking on yard 

REQUIREMENTS:  Class A License with at least 12 months of Class A tractor trailer experience in the last 10 years.

  • Truck condition (Can Pass DOT inspection)
  • Paperwork is provided by owner operator (scanned in by the recruiter prior to onboarding)
    • Title or title application in owner’s name
    • Most recent 2290 (IRS form, Heavy Highway Vehicle Use Tax Return)
    • Bill of sale
    • Most recent registration and contact information for the lien holder
